In a fateful confrontation , General Sam Houston led his ragtag army of Texian soldiers against the formidable Mexican forces under the command of General Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna. The battle that ensued would become legendary, forever etching its name into the annals of American history: The Battle of San Jacinto.
The landscape was rough, a tangle of tangled underbrush and muddy swamps. This location, Houston's forces, outnumbered but determined, laid an ambush for the arrogant Santa Anna.
